New Hampshire Institute of Art High School Drawing Contest
BAY students compete in the annual New Hampshire Institute of Art High School drawing contest. The judges select only the best high school student work from across the United States for inclusion in this juried show. Typically, only 3 or 4 high school artists from Connecticut have work accepted into this show each year. Thus, artists who have their work selected gain in confidence and are able to place this significant achievement on their college application resume.
Katie Christensen, from East Lyme, Connecticut, recently had her pen and ink self-portrait accepted into the 2013 New Hampshire Institute of Art High School Drawing exhibit. She is one of only three Connecticut high school artists to earn this distinction this year. Katie has been a student at the Barn for Artistic Youth, in Niantic, for many years and is presently a junior attending East Lyme High School. Her college plans include either a double major in studio art and business, or a combined business and art degree such as communication design.
